Spa Creek Conservancy is staffed by volunteers and is always looking for fresh faces to help us with a variety of projects. Please contact Amy Clements for more information.

Of course, the best way to get involved is to become a member of the Spa Creek Conservancy, but you don't have to join to help out for a day, a week, a month, or on a specific project or committee such as those listed below.

Field Projects

volunteers workingSCC sponsors regular stream cleanups, plantings, and other field work days. Volunteers are needed to plant wetland grasses, build rain gardens, clean up debris and trash along the Spa Creek banks, and clear out invasive species. Check our Calendar for upcoming events.

During the summer and fall of 2005 we walked the headwaters of the creek to a complete a survey of key environmental challenges facing the creek. We were led by the nationally recognized Center for Watershed Protection (CWP). A CWP science and technical team is under contract to SCC) to develop a comprehensive Master Restoration Plan for the creek headwaters. Check back often to see when volunteer dates are established for this program.

Team Building

SCC offers a tailored, save the creek, “team build” volunteer day during the weekdays with a picnic lunch for businesses and organizations. Make a living legacy contribution to your local environment and the water quality of the Chesapeake Bay while getting down and dirty with fellow team members. Contact Mel Wilkins and pick a date.
